Friendship Mission is a PCA Presbyterian church and shelter located on the western side of Montgomery, Alabama. With our church located in the heart of Montgomery, we are easily accessible to the homeless, poor and needy of our city. Assisted by church officers and lay volunteers from the area and around the state, our church and shelter provides:
 - 2 worship services a day except Saturday
 - hot meals for all homeless and poor who attend
 - counseling and Bible study on weeknights
for about 50 men living in the shelter.

The surrounding community enjoyed Friendship Mission's July 4th celebration.

We served bar-b-cued chicken and pork, potato salad, cole slaw, hot dogs, baked beans, with desserts of cakes, ice cream, water melons and cantaloupes. We also distributed snack bags, hygiene kits and clothes.

Pastor Vincent Rosato

Friendship Mission serves as a shelter housing 50 men at a time, providing food, clothing and most importantly, a chance for men who have lost their way to regain a relationship with Christ. It's a two-fold focus, we want to cater to their physical needs, but the main focus is to preach the word of God to them. During a typical day, Friendship Mission sends out three vans around 7:30 a.m. to pick up homeless men at spots around the city. The men are brought to the church, where they are given meals and attend Bible study meetings and worship services. They also are given an opportunity to shower, get clean clothing, relax and watch television.

After seeing these men at their lowest points, it's easy to see the common threads that lead them to the situation they're in. Those threads are usually drug or alcohol addiction or mental illness. When you are an addict, you no longer can maintain yourself. You can't stay employed at times or maintain holding your family together, and you slip into a state of depression. The answers to their troubles are in God's word, and we want them to cry out for the Lord's help.

We would like to take advantage of the full seven acres of land and build a full-fledged shelter for women, a health clinic and even a Christian school. Currently we can't provide shelter at the church for women and their families. However, we have worked with some homeless women setting women and their children up at an area motel.

Area shelters lack facilities for women, families.
